Meet & Eat

No Meet & Eat for the month of July, please see flyer below!

Volunteers Needed!

Nurture is looking for two volunteers for our potlucks on the last Sundays of the month for Meet and Eat. One person would be in charge of making sure the coffee is started and the other person would be in charge of making sure things get cleaned up. There could be different people at each potluck or you could do more than one. There is a sign up sheet in the office or you can email or text (Ruthann.bever@gmail.com or 260-341-2965) if you would be willing to help with this for a month. We will be taking a break in July from Meet and Eat so we won’t need volunteers then but that leaves April, May, June, August, September, October, November, and December. Please consider helping!

Be on the lookout!

While you are out and about at garage sales this summer, consider looking for children’s pants sized 4-8 to bring to church to then be donated to Brentwood Elementary School!

Next B.I.C.Y.C.L.E. Rides

The next BICYCLE ride is Saturday,
July 6.  We will be riding portions of the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail starting in Shipshewana at 11 am.  The parking lot is near the intersection of Depot and Talmadge streets.  Put Pumpkinvine Nature Trial/Shipshewana in Google maps.  There are a number of options for distances.  We don't want to leave anyone behind so please let me know if you plan on joining us.  Hope to see you then!

This summer is a great time for us in Northern Indiana to appreciate one of the Church of the Brethren's gifts: Song and Story Fest. This is a week of music, storytelling, hikes, swimming, new friends, old friends (or whatever you like to do at a camp) with really good homemade food. Come for all or part: July 7-13, 2024 Camp Brethren Heights, Rodney, Michigan.

Pastor Anna Lisa is one of the storytellers, along with hot shots like Susan Boyer and Jonathan Hunter - who will knock your socks off! Plus fantastic musicians like Chris Good (married to Heidi Beck, who grew up at Beacon Heights) and Greg & Rhonda Baker (Rhonda grew up at Beacon Heights).

Next SUNDAY: July 14, 2024

Theme:  WELCOME + WORTHY: NURTURING DIGNITY AND WHOLENESS

We are called, through Christ’s work, to nurture the dignity and wholeness of all people by practicing and promoting peace and justice across God’s creation. Wouldn’t it be great if everyone could be more like Jesus? What would Jesus do? Act justly. Serve toward dignity and wholeness for all. Since everyone doesn’t do it, doesn’t that let me off the hook? Do you find it easier to complain about others not following Jesus’ way (even if they say they’re Christian) than digging into Jesus’ way yourself?

Jesus has it going on - he walks the talk! And he doesn’t use his faithfulness or special status as a way to "win" against others - but humbles himself and serves.

To prepare, please read: Philippians 2:1-11.
