Weekly Announcements

  • Brr! This is a great time to laugh, listen and feast with our church family. Please come at 9:30 on Sunday for Meet and Eat, and enjoy a pancake feast in the Fellowship Hall. We'll have lighthearted conversation (as well as syrup and nuts and fruit) to top our pancakes.

  • Following worship we'll return to the Fellowship Hall for a brief fall Council Meeting. All are welcome! Members are strongly encouraged to attend - you will be considering: revisions to the by-laws, 2023 leadership positions, and the ongoing mission and ministry of Beacon Heights. Bring a snack if you wish (or look for some leftover pancakes).

  • Would you like to meet with our Middle schoolers for about 30 minutes during Sunday worship as they begin a Sunday school series: Mantras, Menorahs and Minarets: Encountering Other Faiths? You can sign up for one or more weeks and get more information from Pastor Anna Lisa.

  • Sunday (9-25) is the last day to claim your Lost and Found items! Following the Council Meeting Sunday, they will be donated. Check out the glasses and water bottles and single earrings that you might be missing!

  • Choir practice has resumed, taking place on Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. If you would like to join the church choir, please connect with Melody to learn more!

  • Next week in worship we’ll make commitments to one another about our 2023 pledges so that Commissions can begin budgeting. We’ll also share Communion in a unique way on World Communion Sunday.

Please save your can tabs for Linda Wolf or Jennifer Johnson for a fund raiser for Ronald McDonald house. Thanks!

Kids & Youth & their parents:

Please join us for a campfire cookout & gardening project for those that want to @ Poplar Village Gardens (and Diana Hart’s house) @ 2107 Broadway in Fort Wayne. Not only is this a permaculture paradise, there's a playground, too!

Party starts @ 6pm, Saturday October 1st. We've invited youth from the Unitarian Universalist and Agape congregations to join us.

We’ll supply hot dogs, ice cream, chips & s’more making items. Please bring the drink of your choice & anything else you may want to fit your specific dietary needs.

Dress comfortable for the weather. Long pants & tennis shoes are recommended. Diana has bug repellant (bring yours if you have a specific preference).

Join us for the last B.I.C.Y.C.L.E, ride of the year. The ride will be on Saturday, October 15. We will meet at the Lifebridge Church at 2 pm and head south on the Pufferbelly Trail. There are a number of different options for distances with the longest route being about 15 miles. Snacks and beverages will be provided at the end of the ride. Please let me know if you plan to join us or if you have any questions. Hope to see you then!

“The Mind Matters” | Listen to Episode #134 of the Dunker Punks Podcast

Welcome to the Fall 2022 season of the Dunker Punks Podcast (DPP)! The audio show featuring young and youthful voices of faith kicks things off with a deep dive on the relationship between the Church and mental health. Mycal Gresh brings us her reflections on the intersection of science, healthcare, and faith and ways to continue progressing to help our communities.

Did you know that Beacon Heights is one of the only congregational sponsors of Dunker Punks?! We're helping this happen with a $200 annual donation - but listening to and sharing the podcast would be even more helpful!

You are invited to join Manchester Church of the Brethren for their Sing Me Home Fall Festival on October 8, from 4-10pm. Come and enjoy the music, poetry, storytelling, workshop leadership and more from KelsiCote and other talented artists! More information available here:

Camp Mack is in the process of renovating Ulrich House!

If you would like to assist Steve Keim and other volunteers in this effort, please register here, or contact Camp Mack directly.

next Sunday: October 2, 2022
World Communion Sunday

Theme & Title: Witnessing freedom, harvesting commitment.

As we travel with Ruth this stewardship season, we're gleaning good news. Ruth, Naomi and Boaz creatively fulfill family and covenant. It takes a sandal…?!

Kids: bring a stuffy who makes you feel safe and connected to God in a hands-on way!

All are welcome to share communion as we celebrate God incarnate.

Please read Ruth 4 to prepare.

Pastor Anna Lisa Gross
