Fellowship at Beacon Heights

Annual All-Church Picnic All-Church Picnic

The picnic is usually held the first Sunday after Labor Day. It is an opportunity for people to gather together in a park or at a home to fellowship, play games, and eat together.

Fitness and Fun

Over the last few years several informal groups of congregation members have formed for fitness and fun according to the season and interest levels. Recent activities have included weeknight softball, Saturday morning basketball, Sunday afternoon soccer, Tai Chi and Yoga. Opportunities to join in are posted in the weekly "Beacon" newsletter.

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner

This is a popular annual event in which people gather to share a meal at the home of a church family. The host family provides the main course with other guests providing salad, side dishes and dessert. It is a surprise to see who comes to your home for dinner and what you will be eating, and a joy to share with new and old friends.

Ladies' Birthday Luncheon

The Ladies' Birthday Luncheon is scheduled for noon on the second Wednesday of each month. The person who volunteers to host the event invites women from Beacon Heights to her home and everyone who attends, except those who have birthdays during the scheduled month, brings a dish to share; or the hostess may make arrangements to have the event at church or an area restaurant instead of her home. Although the majority of participants have reached retirement age, all women are invited and welcome to attend.

Retired Men's Breakfast Group

This group meets at 8:00 a.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at Richard's Restaurant on Washington Center Rd. There is no formal agenda; we simply meet for fellowship and food. The gathering usually lasts about an hour.

Senior Adults Group

An active group of seniors in the congregation meets at regular intervals for an outing in northeast Indiana. Gatherings feature lunch at a popular restaurant and a program or an educational tour of local sites of interest in the area being visited.

Simple Suppers Simple Supper

During the winter months, Nurture Commission sponsors bi-weekly suppers for the congregation and friends on Wednesday evenings, with a short program at the end. Simple Suppers form an excellent, relaxed venue for getting better acquainted with folks from the congregation, and learning about interesting topics and experiences. Supper is generally served at six (a minimal donation is invited to cover costs) and the program is offered from 6:45 to 7:00 p.m. Makes supper on Wednesdays a simple affair!

Young Adults Group

The young adults of Beacon Heights meet approximately once every month or six weeks, primarily for social time and fellowship together. The group typically has dinner at a restaurant but occasionally meet in someone's home, with one person or couple serving as convener. All young adults, from college age to singles to couples and growing families are welcome to meet with this group.
